Position Details:
Job Title: Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic
Pay Rate: $25 - $32
Location: Lawrence, IN
Employment Type: Full-Time / Project-Based
Schedule: 5-8s, Monday through Friday, 7 AM start; some overtime and weekend work may be required
Start Date: 04/06/2026

Scope of Work:

• Install commercial and residential HVAC equipment including split systems, chillers, rooftop units, and water source heat pumps
• Install and service refrigeration piping, condensate piping, and mechanical supports
• Perform startup, commissioning, and verify equipment installations meet specifications and codes
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, project plans, and startup documentation
• Coordinate equipment rigging, placement, and system modifications
• Install ductwork, piping, and auxiliary mechanical system components
• Conduct electrical make-safe, disconnect, and lock-out/tag-out procedures
• Maintain organized, safe, and professional jobsite conditions
• Assist with field quoting, material takeoffs, and purchase orders
• Mentor less-experienced team members and review installation documentation

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED; technical/trade school preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of commercial HVAC experience
• Knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration piping, and electrical fundamentals
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and project specs
• Skilled in equipment rigging, piping, ductwork, and system alignment
• Proficiency with startup sheets and technical documentation
• Strong communication, customer service, and mentoring skills
• Valid driver’s license with insurable record
• Universal EPA Certification preferred; Core and Type II certifications desired, with willingness to obtain if not held
• OSHA 10 Hour certification required; OSHA 30 preferred
