Work Scope / Mechanic Responsibilities

A Commercial Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for completing the tasks or projects assigned by the Superintendent. Once the scope is discussed, the Mechanic is expected to execute the work independently with efficiency and high-quality craftsmanship.

Key responsibilities include:

• Owning assigned tasks and completing them efficiently and correctly
• Supervising helpers on the crew and keeping them productive and safe
• Acting as the communication link between helpers and the office
• Demonstrating strong craftsmanship and pride in finished work
• Reporting any concerns, delays, or problems directly to the Superintendent
• Installing all ductwork and completing trim-out work
• Installing and working around conduit, copper, gas, and air lines as required
• Tracking and managing materials on site
• Reading and understanding drawings and coordinating work with other contractors
• Providing at least a two-week notice for any planned vacation or time off
• Maintaining standard vehicle maintenance throughout the year (for mechanics issued a vehicle)
• Performing other duties as assigned

This role requires accountability, leadership, and the ability to coordinate effectively on an active commercial job site.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a commercial sheet metal mechanic
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks
• Experience leading helpers and maintaining jobsite productivity
• Strong understanding of drawings and coordination with other trades
• Must have own hand tools and full PPE
• Reliable transportation (company truck provided for qualifying mechanics)
• Professional attitude and safety-first mindset
