Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Hot Tapping & Line Stopping Technician to perform work on active, pressurized water pipelines without system shutdowns. This is a highly specialized role working on critical infrastructure where precision, safety, and experience are mandatory.

This position is NOT general plumbing. Only candidates with documented live-line experience should apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform hot tapping on live, pressurized water mains

• Install, operate, and remove line stopping equipment to temporarily halt flow

• Drill into active pipelines and create new connection points without shutting down systems

• Work on municipal, industrial, and commercial water systems

• Verify pressure ratings, pipe material, and system integrity before tapping

• Follow strict safety procedures, method statements, and lockout protocols

• Coordinate with plumbers, pipefitters, and project supervisors before and after tie-ins

• Maintain and inspect specialized tapping and line stop equipment

Required Experience

• Proven hands-on experience with hot tapping and/or line stopping on live water systems

• Experience working on pressurized pipelines (municipal or industrial)

• Strong understanding of pipe materials (ductile iron, steel, PVC, HDPE, etc.)

• Ability to read plans, specs, and tap detail drawings

• Strong safety record and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in utility pipeline work, industrial plumbing, or pipefitting

• Manufacturer or third-party training on hot tap / line stop equipment

• Confined space and utility safety training

• Ability to travel to project sites as needed
