Once you apply for a job, we set up a telephone interview to get to know you. We want to see that you are dependable, take direction well, show sound judgment, and can physically handle construction work. We also need to assess your adaptability with heavy workloads, demanding duties, tight schedules, and a variety of coworkers. Your knowledge of different construction equipment and techniques, health and safety procedures, level of experience, attitude, and enthusiasm are important as well. Plus, we want to hear about your skillset, technique, specialization, and attention to detail.
The next step involves skills tests. We are looking for active listening, coordination, manual dexterity, static strength, multi-limb coordination, and more. The tests are designed to show you can complete tasks such as cleaning or preparing construction sites to eliminate potential hazards. Another example may be signaling equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials. Or, loading, unloading, or identifying building materials, machinery, or tools, then using project plans or specifications to distribute them to the appropriate locations.
Background Check, References, Drug Screen, and Safety Test
We conduct background and reference checks to verify your identity and work experience. We want to confirm your education, employment, and medical history and ensure you have no criminal record. We also conduct a drug screen and safety test. This helps protect our workers while on the job.
As part of our commitment to provide a safe and healthy work environment, we conduct a safety orientation for all new hires. Both management and our recruitment staff prioritize safe work practices and safety standards for our employees. We continue to provide training through online orientation links, Tool Box Talks, and safety staff’s job site visits.
